We’re Live
A Community Built Around Play
Marion park events are closely tied to the beautiful spaces we maintain across the district. With parks ranging from quiet greenspaces to bustling recreational hubs, we make it easy for residents to enjoy nature, fitness, and community activities year-round. Families often gather at Ray Fosse Park — the city’s largest and most popular park — for concerts, festivals, tournaments, and outdoor celebrations. Other beloved locations, like Ashley Park, Pamela Park, Harrison-Bruce Park, John W. Jones Park, and Pyramid Park, serve as vibrant backdrops for weekly programs, seasonal events, and youth activities.
Sports and recreation lovers will find plenty to enjoy at the Marion Soccer Complex, our Black Diamond Pickleball Complex, and Pharaoh’s Way Disc Golf — all of which host tournaments, leagues, and skill-building programs throughout the year. Warm-weather events often center around the Aquatic Center at 500 E Deyoung Street, where open swim sessions, themed days, and summer festivities invite families to cool off and make memories.
Supporting an Inclusive & Active Community with Marion Park Events
A key part of our district’s identity is our commitment to accessibility and inclusion. Many community events take place at the Heartland Regional Medical Center Inclusive Playground at Ray Fosse Park — a signature destination that allows children of all abilities to play together without barriers. Opened in 2018, the Inclusive Playground and its accompanying Family Fitness Zone demonstrate our dedication not only to recreation, but to fostering connection, empathy, and wellness for every resident.
Events held at this space often highlight the principles of inclusive play — fairness, independence, safety, comfort, creativity, and active engagement. Programs here encourage children to learn from one another, build friendships, strengthen motor skills, and develop compassion through shared play experiences. Families, caregivers, and even our local veterans benefit from accessible design that allows everyone to participate in the fun.
